IT MAKES ME SICK!

I sit here today in morning for the UNLV basketball team. Its over. We all know it, it was just a matter of time before it happened. Tre Willis has that killer instinct to not let us lose but he can not do it by himself. He will have to get some help. He reminds me of Ruben Douglas when he was all UNM had. Its very sad to think he might not ever be in the NCAA tournament like Marcus Banks.

This team just lost to a below .500 Utah team. I haven't seen a loss this bad in a long time. We have lost to bad teams but never someone under .500 when we played them late in the season. I can stomach losses to UNM and SDSU those are good teams. But this loss just puts us back a lot. I cant make excuses anymore. I think we are in serious trouble and it needs to be fixed fast.

When you have players saying they are not on the same page and they are not working hard for the whole game. That spells trouble. Kruger is to blame and so are the players. He get out rebounded every game. I think we play too many guards. Those guys don't rebound and when you have Marshall, Oscar, Stanbeck and Tre all on the floor we are in trouble. Matt Shaw is a big man but a shooter and will never be down around the basket. So when you see guys like Gaston, Wendell, and Joel leave the program that hurts. Not one of these big men is like those guys. Also all three of our big guys can not catch a pass for the life of them. I saw four or five passes dropped on the floor last night and it caused a turnover or blocked/ missed shot.

We need to win every game from here on out. If we do that and win two games in the conference tourney we are out. Its going to suck. But we will be looking Utah right in the face in the first round. Its the same as last season, we had to win games that we didn't and we got left out and there is no reason to do it to us again.

If this starts to become a trend for Kruger, maybe he has taken us as far as he can. We need to be winning games at home. Once again if we would have split this four game stint we would be fine. Kruger needed to find away to get this win. If you have to leave Jones in over Marshall so be it.

so like the great Robert Montgomery Knight said!

"I'm sick and fuck'n tired of losing to Purdue (Utah)."

I now have a headache

WHERE ARE THEY NOW! REBELS TRANSFERS!

So we are a team filled with transfers and it looks like we are doing very well with what we have. I always wonder if the same happen to the guys who transfer out of our program. From what I see we got the better end of the deal by them leaving and not ruining out program.

Let start off about seven years back!

Jamal Holden: He was a recruit by Charlie Spoonhour and was suppose to be very promising. He was not ready for this type of basketball. The run and gun style of UNLV with Banks and Dalron Johnson. He transferred out to Arkansas Little Rock and finished his career there. I do believe he is playing in Asia according to an Internet source. How i don't know they guy was terrible.

John Winston: Young point guard never really flourished in the UNLV system. Transferred out middle of Sophomore year to Loyola Mary mount. He started two years there but never did anything. He average 4 pt and 3 assists a game scoring 20 points once.

Lamar Roberson: He was a Kruger recruit and was suppose to be dominant after transferring from Huston. He was buddies with Wink, and Emmanuel Adeife. Roberson left the team because of lack of playing time well doesn't seem like hes getting anymore in Louisiana either. He doesn't start and is averaging 5 pts a game. He also has had some discipline problems and was suspend at the end of last season.

Emmanel Adeife: He was big transfer with Roberson from Huston and they thought he was the next best thing. Nope he fought with Kruger and was kicked off the team. He landed in Louisiana as well played 17 games and isn't listed on any roster for his senior year. He average 11 minutes and 2 points a game. Some big minutes.

Beas Hamaga: He was a five star recruit out of high school. He was suppose to be this great player. We all think he was garbage and transferred without playing a minute. He went to Valpo and is now transferring from there. Seems like he doesn't like anything and is not going to do much with just two years of eligibility left.

Deshawn Mitchell: He is another young freshmen who could jump out of the gym but would have never found playing time with the team we have now. He is now sitting out at rider where he can play next season.

Marcus Lawrence: He had praise coming out of high school in Vegas like Tavanari and Billy White. He got a DUI and was out of control. Then transfer to Idaho where he plays but very limited minutes. He also has been disciplined in their program as well.

Troy Cage: was another young recruit that just wouldn't have played in this rotation. He transferred twice after UNLV. Once to Louisiana with the other two and now is on the roster at Tennessee-Chattanooga. Doesn't look like much of a future.

Jerome Johnson: He would have helped the team but career ending knee injury. He is still a student at UNLV.

Doesn't look like we missed out on two much but if you think about the players we have from other schools it looks like we are finding gold mines.

FUTURE OF THE PAC 10!

There has been a lot of talk as of late about the new Pac 10. What teams will they expand to? Why are these the teams? There are a lot of things to take into consideration. I'm going to give you my opinion on who I think and why I think its headed this way.

When you think of the PAC 10 expansion you think of two west cost schools right off the bat. Utah and BYU. They are the biggest schools with the best programs in both major sports on the west coast. Both schools have great programs in football and basketball both schools have been in the hunt for BSC bowl games and Utah has played in two of them. Both schools recruit well and have a huge fan base. These would be my choices for the Pac 10 at first glance. Both schools have a certain religious commitments that causes Sunday games to be over looked which might not be a huge problem.

One BIG problem neither city is fun for entertainment or travel. This causes problems to be over looked. Utah is the winner in this on though. Much larger city and large fan base with athletic programs who have been to the top.

So if we have one school who is our next contender. Ill give you a few names. Colorado, Boise State, UNLV, SDSU and Fresno State.

I will do a little process of elimination. SDSU and Fresno State both don't have strong followings in both sports. One sport dominates the other in both schools. Fresno not a huge TV market and SDSU doesn't have the best football program and doesn't play on a home field. Something many of the PAC 10 schools have. Both schools are out of the process on those notions.

Boise State! Great program in football, a team who has made a lot of noise in the BSC bowl games and will continue to dominate on the Smurf Turf. This is very good for the resume but small town, small TV market and not a very good basketball program hurts the school from moving on. Maybe a great choice to beef up the MWC along with Fresno State.

This leaves two schools. Lets start with UNLV. They are a great basketball school on the verge of the old days. They have a great arena on campus and great TV market. The Rebels football team isn't good and the stadium although good it isn't on campus. BUT yes there is a but. The city has the money or can find the money to build one. With an on campus stadium and a rising program that will help winning and fans. That isn't far off. Bobby Hauck will have the program in the right direction. They have the top attendances on the west coast for basketball. UNLV shows a lot of promise.

Colorado is in the BIG 12. Enough said right? Wrong. Many think Colorado is built for the west coast and would fit in better with the travel and TV markets. They say many west coasters are from the Rockies but I don't see it. Colorado wouldn't move from the Big 12. Sure they have had a few down seasons but the Buffs are a top program and have won in the Big 12 before. They would bring a lot of promise to the PAC 10 but I don't see it. Keep the schools close, Colorado is more mid west then west coast. They have one thing in common with the west cost schools they are usually in the top five for party schools with the likes of ASU and SDSU. But they aren't going anywhere. More football schools in the mid west where they belong. The basketball program isn't going anywhere.

Leaves my pick to UNLV. Rebels and Utes in the Pac 10 gives them a championship game in football and possible site in Vegas. This would be one major move for the Pac 10. It will all probably be decided in the coming months so keep the look out.

SHOUT OUT TO MY BOYZ!

I write these blogs about sports to get feed back mostly from my friends and to keep in touch with them on these subjects because most of us live in different states. Its a good way for me to through my opinion out there and to get their opinions on how i feel. Who knows maybe one day my views will lead me to ESPN.

I want to take some time out to tell some of my really good friends back home how proud of them I am. All my buddies in Vegas Josh, Jack B, Jack D, Eddie, Mike T, Bradley, Branden, Scottie, Joe G, and Sean. Those of you i forgot i apologize but these guys i talk to on a daily basis. It makes me proud to see you all doing well. I love reading the paper everyday seeing stories about the lawyers in the group and the ink you get. I owe a lot to the guys who put me in the position I'm in out here in Phoenix.

You guys are all great friends and I really appreciate everything you have all done for me along the way. JD you have been there a lot too man.
