This could be the date that we see the biggest fight in the history of boxing. Floyd "Money" Mayweather has once again called out Manny "Pacman"Pacquiao to fight him on this date next year. Money is looking for the biggest fight he can get and this seems to be it. I would love to see this fight and so would everyone else. Now there are many aspects that go into this fight.

Pacquiao is considered the best pound for pound champ in the world right now for the simple fact that he fights a lot more then Money does. Floyd has had one fight in 16 months. The Pacman really has nothing to lose in this fight. He is already on top of the world in boxing. He is loved by almost everyone and if her were to lose it still would go down in history as a great fighter.

Mayweather on the other had has a lot to lose. He is undefeated in 42 fights and could go out with an unblemished record. He could make a record pay day and be set for life but I think Floyd could careless about the money. Most of you see him as cocky and all about the money hints the nickname. But he is a real student of the game of boxing. He has had many run ins with the law and maybe that is why his image is not as clean as the Pacman but I think if Floyd were to lose it would be worse to him than spending every dime he has. He really wants to leave a huge legacy.

This man loves the sport of boxing and he could spend the hundreds of millions of dollars he has and will make but if he stays undefeated he will always be a legend. There is a lot riding on the fight for Floyd. Not just the loss of the fight but it would be a loss of legacy. Floyd wants to go down as the best boxer of all time and keeping that 0 in the loss column is a big part of that. A loss to Pacman would just consider him a decent boxer who loss to the best. Now when you are a fighter you always want to fight the best and neither of these guys are getting any younger.

No one wants to see this fight happen when they are both past their prime like some Hopkins/Jones Jr. fight. This fight has to take place in the next 12 months or else the time frame will have lapsed. If Floyd wants to secure his legendary status he needs to fight Manny and win and retire after. If he does this he will have cleaned out a division and collected all the money he needs for himself.

For Manny I think its just a chance to fight the best. The Pacman is all about fighting the best. He will take the fight no matter what. He already has a loss on his record, and made a ton of money for his family. Also he is loved by his whole country. There is nothing to lose. He could fight Floyd three times in the next year and we would buy all three just to see the best of the best go at it.

They say this fight will cost $70 plus on pay-per-view. I say it should cost $150. Who wouldn't pay this. Everyone wants to see these two fight. I think it would get 4 million buys on PPV and both these guys could go out there and have a huge fight and call it a career.

CRAZED FANS

As a sports fan I am one of the most passionate about my teams. I know the history and the bios of every team and its players that I follow. But when is this taken too far? I just watched the movie on Steve Bartmen. For those of you who don't know who Bartmen is, he is the guy the City of Chicago blames for losing the 2003 NLCS.What he did wasn't so wrong. Its the fact that the way people treated him after it happened that was. This also comes into subject because of the fan who was almost beat to death at the Dodgers game on opening day this year because of his jersey. 

I think a sports fan has certain rights when it comes to his team and physical harm on another person isn't one of them. We as sports fans can argue until we are blue in the face with another fan of the same team. That just shows our passion for it. I have friends that can push the right buttons just to get me going about my teams. Sure I can get into heated discussion and maybe get mad for a second because I think my opinion is right but I would never express physical harm on anyone over a sports team or game.

The way fans treated Bartman after he tried to catch a foul ball was just outrageous. We have all wanted to catch a foul ball at a baseball game. Its just what fans do. This was the ultimate fan at a huge game going for what could have been a big part of history. It just turned out that it wasn't. And things went a little wrong on the field and the game was lost. There were plenty of reasons to blame the team in the field and not the fan in the stands. But how could we. How could we as fans blame our team. Its always shocking when we see our hero's out there and something goes extremely wrong. Most of us like to thinks its a dream or go into denial about what happen. 

The week the Tiger Woods story broke I think I was in denial about what he did. I just couldn't imagine that he could do something like that. I was hoping it was going to be a dream and I would see him get that green jacket Sunday at Augusta. That wasn't it and now two years later he just isn't the same athlete I grew up idolizing. I wish he was still to this day but I think its part of my denial.

In the heat of the moment, the fans in Chicago had to blame someone and Bartmen was the culprit. When he was getting beer thrown at him and the whole stadium was chanting "ASSHOLE," no one stop to think that the players were the ones still playing the game. The Cubs shortstop missed an easy ground ball that could have gotten them out of the inning with the lead. No one thought to look at that play.  No one thought to blame them for blowing a lead the next night in game seven. It was an easy way to blame someone that wasn't a player they all looked up too. People were yelling to kill him and hang him. They also wanted to hurt his family. Why? What did he do? No one in that stadium knew what it was like to see the Cubs win anything, so getting a division title and to be that close in the NLCS was a huge accomplishment for the lovable losers. Why blame it all on Bartmen? Because it was easy. 

The fans who take things too far I don't consider real sports fans. The fan who goes to the game to talk shit and start fights is not a fan. A real fan knows where the issues lie with the team and it is not by threatening or causing harm to another fan. You can talk shit back and forth during a game with other fans but when it gets to a point of physical harm then it should have stopped long before. Its to a point now where people don't even like to wear their teams colors or jersey for fear that something will happen to them at a game. Nothing is worse than going to a game, everyone is having a good time some crazed fan gets drunk and tries to start a fight with you because his team is losing. It ruins the whole experience. 

I was at a NHL playoff game last year. The Coyotes vs Redwings. Its game four the Wings can close out the series in Phoenix. I am a Detroit fan I have a shirt on with the huge Wing logo. As the game gets into the 3rd period, the Coyotes are pretty much out of it at this point the Phoenix fans around us start to get crazy. The young woman sitting in front of me, also a Redwing fan, started getting harassed by two Phoenix fans on my right. Now by harassed I mean very vulgar and personal attacks at her. Nothing like your team sucks and they spend all kinds of money. It was vulgar and embarrassing. The  woman was with man and he wanted to get after these two guys. I calmly told him to just brush it off and get a bear. After a few more minutes and a beer being hurled at her I just turned to the two fans and asked them to name the coach of the Coyotes. Not one of them could.

My point here is that this situation could have gotten a lot uglier if I had not calmed the male friend down and told him to ignore them. The woman just ignored them all together. She took it like a champ and continued to cheer for her team. Like a real fan. Anyway my point is if you want to harass and fight fans then know the coach of the team. A fan must know the team and stats first an foremost to call themselves a fan. If your a fan of the game then know the rules. Don't yell out stupid shit for no reason. Don't blame guys like Bartmen if you were in the same situation you would have done the same. The players and teams are the ones to blame. They make all the money. They are in front of the media making the excuses not the fans. We the fans pay to be there and enjoy the entertainment. Blame the entertainers for the bad outcome. 

Fans should be able to enjoy an event and wear their colors without fear of getting beat up. Best fans in my opinion Boise State, and Wyoming fans. They are so nice to everyone win or lose they are just happy to be there. Worse fans once again this is my experience. UNR, BYU, and Hawaii. Those fans are down right looking to fight and cause some sort of trouble. I'm sure there are others but these are for the majority the worst in my opinion. I have been in or around these fans at either home or away games and it was never a pretty site. 

All in all, the point here is to not act like a jackass. Don't call into radio shows calling the guys on the air stupid if you cant name your starting five from your "so called" favorite NBA team. Don't start a fight with another fan just because he likes the opposing team. You may hate that team but you don't know the fan. They say to clean up these sports but they need to clean up the stands too or should I say the fans too.

DONT HATE THE FIGHTER HATE THE FIGHT GAME

A confident person can also be an arrogant one, but when your the best it doesn't matter what you do people are always going to hate you for a stupid reason. This weekend Floyd Mayweather fought Victor Ortiz in a very controversial fight. All I have heard since the fight ended at 9:03pm on Saturday night is what a cheap shot it was from Mayweather.

Did anyone of you watch this fight? ANYONE! If you did you would have noticed that Ortiz did what I like to call a flying headbutt. It wasn't accidental. Ortiz had Mayweather backed into a corner trying to land some good punches and he just snapped and head butted him. Why did he need to do this? The first few rounds weren't even that bad and I believe it was only two rounds to one on Herald Letterman's score card. Why if Ortiz thought he could beat Mayweather did he decide to jump headbutt the man in his face early in the fight? This is the same guy that quit in a fight remember. My girlfriend asked me why everyone on Facebook was mad at Mayweather, then she proceeded to say didn't Ortiz headbutt him intentionally? 

All you Mayweather haters out there who think you know Floyd from 24/7 and from his "so called" legal troubles that the media likes to write about. You don't know him. I don't even know the man. But here's the thing everyone likes to say he's such a bad guy, and all the other BS that you hear just because the man likes to speak his mind, spend his money and box. Sure he is cocky and rightfully so he is undefeated. He is the villain that the media has created. And Floyd being the smart man that he is plays into it. He likes the villain roll. Who doesn't like a villain? We love the Joker from Batman, we love the NWO Hulk Hogan or The Rock, and how about Dana White or Brock Lesner. They are both portrayed as villains by the media. How about Iron Mike Tyson he was the villain too. Everyone of these guys was the villain and everyone of them made or is making a ton of money doing it. So why wouldn't, the best pound for pound boxer in the world do the same?

You don't have to like Mayweather as a person and you can talk all the crap you want about how the man spends his money, and who he hangs out with, but its his image and his money. Not Yours. We all watched 24/7 and the feel good story about Ortiz. But what you didn't see was Ortiz who got $2.5 million for the fight, which was his highest payday to date. Called his purse chump change and complain about how he should get more? I never heard of the guy until he sign to fight Floyd. Now I don't know about you but I could live off $2.5 million for the rest of my life pretty comfortably.   The fact of the matter is, we also like to see the villain get beat but in this case he isn't. Floyd is the best pound for pound champ and the best of my time period. The people who hate him are just jealous of the fact he has a ton of cash is the best in his sport. He is cocky, and arrogant but he can back it up. These days we are looking for some outlet to bring down a career like steroids, or scandal. Who cares how he acts, he is the highest grossing boxer of all time and its because of us who buy his fights. You buy those fights to either see him win or lose. The fact is your paying for it and its going into his pocket. 

We all want to see him fight Manny and I'm sure that fight will be sooner than we think. But I want to say this. What happens if... wait...What happens WHEN he beats Manny? Hey I love Pacman too. But what is everyone going to say when he loses? The guy knows what he is doing. If you notice on the 24/7 he never shows you the preparations or what he is going to do in the fight. You only see him hit the pads with Roger, hit the speed bag and run. You will never see the man actually doing work in front of the camera. And that is all he wants you to see. He wants you to think he isn't working hard and is unprepared, so you think he will lose but that isn't the case. The man is the hardest working athlete in sports and if you are lucky enough to step foot into his gym to watch a workout you would say the same. He is 41-0 and there is only one person out there everyone wants to see him fight. Its going to be the biggest fight ever in the history of boxing.  Floyd knows that, he isn't stupid. Being the best means you can pick the fights you want. He loves the sport of boxing that is why he is undefeated and not one other fighter of his stature ended their career with a goose egg. Floyd has a lot to lose if he were to go down but he needs to be smart about the legacy he will leave as well. His legacy is more important than any fight with Pacman. It may not look like it on the outside but I guarantee everything he does is calculate in a very smart way. So hate him or love him you must respect the man.

NCAA, The Big Bully!

This week has been very unfair to some college athletes both good and bad. I remember in the early 90's, shoot even late 80's that when the NCAA was investigating schools and putting them on suspensions for any little thing. When these school would get suspended it was a post season ban and a TV ban. Yeah you heard it. A TV ban. With all the money these schools get for their TV deals why isn't there a TV ban anymore? I would guess it has something to do with the NCAA losing money.

This week BYU decided to suspend, wait a minute that isn't correct. Kick off a player, Brandon Davies, for violating the Universities honor code. Davies a decent player, very young and I think could develop into a great NBA post man, was kicked off the team for engaging in a sexual relationship with his girlfriend. Yes it was his girlfriend ,whom he has know since high school. . Now his girlfriend doesn't even attend the school as a matter of fact she goes to a school in a different state. So normally when people are in a relationship for a long time and long distance for that matter they usually show it by having sex when they see each other. Plain and Simple!

I understand the schools honor code. That is fine but when you have young men and women in there late teens and early twenties and you tell them they can't hangout in each others rooms, they can't sleep with each other, what do you think they are going to do? They are going to find anyway possible to get around it. They are young kids finding themselves and when you put these kinds of restrictions on them its going to make it worse. These are young people exploring their freedom for the first time in most cases. I'm sure there are a good percentage who abide by the code but I would be willing to bet (whoops honor code violation) that the majority of a four year students have violated the honor code in some way. We all know that this religion holds themselves to a higher power than all others. That's fine believe what you want but don't punish a kid for doing what he should be doing which is making mistakes that he can learn from and that will develop him into a normal adult. Or they needs to talk to their parents and have them guide them in the right direction. This school is not the parent. Regardless of what they believe they are the educational institution and have no right in parenting anyone. We all have made mistake at this age. Shoot I made plenty but it is what made me the person I am. As I'm sure it has done for most of us.

Now if this was Jimmer do you think this would have happen? I would be willing to bet (whoops betting and honor code violation again) Jimmer has broken the honor code. He was at the Utah Jazz game with his girl a few weeks back. Don't those games end after 10pm? Also, Davies was told on by someone else. Someone who either doesn't like him or wanted him off the team. It wasn't him ratting himself out. He just admitted it when he was asked, thinking the punishment would be less severe. What if he didn't report it? Would BYU forfeit all those games he played in after they found out? I highly doubt it.

To make this situation worse. They tell him he might be eligible to play next year and bring him out yesterday to cut down the nets after BYU finished as the Co-MWC champs. So he can stay in school and play next year? Why? I thought the honor code was this sacred thing and must be upheld no matter what. The school has taken their basketball team out of position to make a great run in the NCAA tournament. They have cost maybe one of the best college basketball players a chance to help make that run. Davies was a huge part of there offense, whether you think so or not. He was a big piece of the team and this hurt them a lot. Sure they beat Wyoming but they aren't anyone contending for anything. They did get exposed by New Mexico who finished 6th in the MWC and beat BYU with Davies earlier this year. Suspending him for the season for this kind of act is unfair. And why isn't the NCAA stepping in?

Now you have two players at Washington State University who were both caught with marijuana this year and were suspended for one game. Yes, one game. How the hell does that keep kids from doing this again. "Ah its no biggie if you get caught its only one game suspension." Drugs are illegal in this country, sex is not. UNLV kicked off one of their players for his entire senior year for failing a drug test for marijuana in the off season. Wazzu's Klay Thompson was suspended one game. He is the Pac-10's leading scorer and all he got was a game suspension. Sure Wazzu isn't the powerhouse of the conference nor are they getting into the NCAA tournament but what does this say about the NCAA or the school? And this is the second time its happened on this team. In December point guard Reggie Moore was suspended for the same thing. This taught no one a lesson on this team if it has happened twice.

Where is the NCAA on all of this? They must be too busy suspending coaches for future season for violations they have been committing for years. NCAA is what I like to call the Godfather. If you do something that causes them to look bad they will punish you. But only if it doesn't cost them money. The suspensions of the Ohio State football players for next season is stupid. Why weren't they suspended for the bowl game? Ill tell you why because it would have cost the NCAA money. Why wasn't Bruce Pearl or Jim Calhoun suspended for there actions in recruiting players? Because their teams were having great seasons at the time and it would cost the NCAA money. Why wasn't John Calipari ever suspended from coaching when both of his teams in the past were caught violating rules. Its doesn't make a lot of sense but it does make money.

The NCAA needs to take a long look in the mirror and ask itself who is causing these problems and it starts with them. Don't put it on the school to punish these players and coaches you should do it yourself. If the school wants to add something after that is fine. Just because your making money of these guys and not giving them a dime doesn't mean the punishments are fair. You guys need to step in on things like Davies and issue harsher punishments for players like Thompson and coaches like Calipari.

In the early 90's if a player took a bag of peanuts out of a hotel room vending machine and the school didn't pay the bill right away they were suspended. If they bought a pay-per view movie and it wasn't listed on the bill they were suspended. If they were given a free meal at a food chain for a promotion they were suspended. Looks like things haven gotten out of hand since the NCAA stopped doing the punishing and are just taking the money. Isn't there a labor law to make money off of kids and not compensate them for it. You think most of these athletes you make this kind of money off of are all going to be pros? And even then you don't property educate them to spend there money accordingly. Its almost like working for a bank where its what have you done for me lately!

NCAA is the bully in all this and schools are afraid to make the right decisions in fear of pissing the BULLY off and getting cut out of the family.

NBA IS ALL BUSINESS

There was a lot of movement in the NBA this week. Carmelo Anthony finally was traded, Daron Williams was shocked by his move and Kendrick Perkins cried after he was dealt to Oklahoma City.

But what does it all mean and why did Melo wait so long for a deal, that seemed like it could have been done months ago.

Its all business.

NBA is about money. That's why they charge me an arm and a leg to sit in the last level of the lower bowl here in Phoenix. (probably wont renew unless something good comes along)

Anyway its all about business. Melo could have taken that deal along time ago but he was searching for something better. And did he even sign the extension? I didn't hear about it. Denver will rebound, they have a good coach and young team.

At first I didn't like the Melo trade but as I see how it works, it has been growing on me everyday. Last night they beat the Heat and shut down Lebron in the final quarter. Seems to be fine. But still a lot of questions.

Is D'Antoni the answer for these guys?

Didn't he have a similar team but with a better point guard and younger legs in Phoenix? Is Chauncey the point guard of the future?

Does he even want to be there?

Can Melo and Amare coexist through a whole season let alone the next three seasons?

They are in NYC the media capitol of the world and we know both cant really keep their mouth shut if things go wrong.

Just still a lot of questions and not enough answers. Sure looks good three game in with a 2-1 record and loss to the Cavs. Looks more to be about business to me.

Is it a set up to get a better coach? Maybe Phil Jackson! Is there a possible deal for Chris Paul coming in the off season. Just no answers. I think the Knicks want to sell a lot of tickets and make up for a horrible decade. They have two guys who will get you in the playoffs but not sure when it actually matters if they are going to win you a title.

These so call "super teams" are also about business. Making money and putting people in the seats for long term. You may guarantee a title or two with them as well. Can you actually say the "super team" is the way to go now? Who wants to go see one of these smaller teams play if they know there is no shot at winning or being competitive. All about business.

The Celtics should have told Kendrick Perkins it was all about business when it came to trading him. I mean I know you love the players and you been there eight years but shedding tears when you got traded isn't the NBA way. He may actually have some feelings. NBA players don't usually give a shit about a trade its just all about the paycheck. Hey Kendrick, you will still get that money pal! Suck it up, your going to a team of the future.

After all these trades and my Suns picking up Aaron Brooks for Goran Dragic? Was that a good idea? Dragic is fine with being the back up to Nash. Nash only has a couple season left but do they really want a complainer behind him? Not sure if that was the right move but it will get them into the playoffs and put money in the owners pocket.The winner of these business deals I think is the NETS.

Why you ask?

Well they got the best point guard in the league RIGHT NOW! I know it was a shock to you DWill, kinda like it was a shock that Charlie Sheen is all of a sudden sober and doing interviews. The dude has lost it.

But the Nets are the big winner. They got a great young point guard. Plenty of draft picks and plenty of money to sign a big name in the off season. They have two great owners and are moving to Brooklyn in 2012. Seems like a place that would make me happy. Point guards are the key piece in the NBA. Look as some of the teams who have won over the last decade they have smart point guards. San Antonio comes to mind. Three titles with Tony Parker. Lakers have Derrick Fisher who is smart with the ball and thinks team first. The Pistons had Chauncey. Also cant forget the second best point guard Rondo. These are teams who have a good floor general.

Miami has? I don't even know who their point guard is? Is Marcus Banks still sitting on the bench? These guys may have Wade but when it comes down to it will Bron take a back seat to DWade? Once again more questions. But hey the seats will be filled and the owners will have plenty of money. Unless my pick San Antonio wins it all.

Yeah you heard me the Spurs will win it all, I think the Celtics come up short again. Which begs the question can Phil really retired without winning another title? I highly doubt it.

Lets see how the business shakes out.

UNLV AND ITS FLOOR GENERAL

I haven't went down this road yet because it has been so frustrating but I think I have this figured out. Oscar Bellfield is a big part of the Rebels offense. More than most of us think. As he goes the Rebels go. When he is on they usually win the big games. I see it as a 13 pts 5 assist effort gets the Rebels a win.

Its not going to be every night but most nights your point guard has to be the team leader. Bellfield this season could be doing a little more in big games to help his team. If Bellfield scores 13 or more points or has five or more assists the Rebels win.

This year against BYU he has 15 points and 5 assist in two games. Its not enough. Against SDSU he only has 6 assist in two games. Also he doesn't have one made three pointer. You notice in some games as Bellfield gets hot the team gets hot. Last nights game was a perfect example. He was cold in the first half and so was the rest of the team. You need a solid point guard to run the team. That is why teams like BYU and SDSU dominate. They have great point guards in Jimmer and Gay. Oscar is a junior and you always think back to when Greg Anthony was a junior how great of a leader he was. Bellfield could be that but he might have a little more maturing to do.

Last night against CSU was one of his best halves of the year. He finished with 18 points. Anytime he has more than 15 points the Rebels are undefeated. Also anytime he has five or more assist the Rebels are 8-1. I never realized it until this point but they need him. They need him to play well. The 76 classic also showed how valuable he was. The BIG O averaged 9 points and 6.2 assists per game.

In the losses to key teams in conference this season Bellfield has not been able to put together a good game. All five games he had less than 13 points and less than 5 assists. Against BYU in the second game he was 1-11 with 2 turnovers and only five points. This is not what you want to see from a guy who plays about 30 minutes a game and doesn't really have a back up to give him a rest.

Bellfield is the key to the Rebels success. He has to get the team involved and he has to shoot the ball just as good to keep them winning. In the non-conference he averaged 11 points and 4 assist per game with a 12-2 record. Since he is 10 points and 2.9 assist. The Rebels are 8-5 in conference. UNLV has some work left to do. I think after last night they know they need to win out. Next up is New Mexico who is more inconsistent than the Rebels. A win there pretty much seals a tournament at-large.

If UNLV can go into the conference tournament with the third seed they have a good shot at making it to the finals and sealing there fate. They cannot drop another game from here on out or it will look bad. Losing to a Utah or Wyoming will look horrible on the resume that already has some blemishes. They will make the tournament from here but no one wants to see a one and done team.

Best case they win out looking at a 23-7 record going into the conference tournament as a 3 seed. If they win the first game and possibly the second. That would give the Rebs 25-8 record and probably a 6 or 7 seed in the tourney. That gives them a shot to win a game or two. This is a great road team. They have won some good games away from the Thomas and Mack and are even better in neutral sites. This is what the committee loves to see.

Worse case. I don't want to think about it. Only positive thoughts over here. But Oscar is the key to this season. Tre Willis and Stanback are roll players to the the floor general. They need him to get going.

That's what's on my mind.

NOT A FAN OF DUMB FANS!

In college sports fans can be a teams own worst enemy. I love the passion and spirit some schools have for there teams its great. But it only takes one incident to ruin it for everyone. I love rushing the court just as much as the next guy (well when I was in college). But when it comes to fans just disrespecting players then I would say it may need to stop.

Couple of rules about rushing the court.

1. If its during the regular season, it must only be if one team who is not ranked beats another team who is. If your in the top 15 and beat a #1-5 you should not be rushing the court. Look at the Big East. They have teams beating up on each other in the top 1o all year but no one rushes the court. Even when you see a St. Johns take out a DUKE.

2. In conference tournament play. It should only be done when a team who had no shot wins or a team who isn't ranked beats a team who is. Like UNLV in 1998 vs top 5 Utah. But respect what your team and the other team has done.

3. Respect the players and coaches of both teams ALWAYS!

This right here is what I want to talk about. If you rush the court, you should only be dancing and congratulating the winning team. You should never disrespect the losing team. UNLIKE yesterday. When the report of a WISCONSIN fan spit in the face of Ohio St. star Jared Sullinger before and after the game.

If you have ever disrespected anyone before in your life like many of us have. Spitting in ones face is probably one of the worst ways to do it. I have never done it but I'm sure in some of my old hockey days I did some things but nothing that bad. This type of action is going to put a stop to a pretty cool tradition.

Why this student felt the need to spit in his face is pretty ridiculous. I pretty sure the kid wasn't sitting court side like Spike and giving it to Sullinger all game. Fans who do this are not true fans. I get mad at players on the other team all the time. I truly dislike some players for the way they play the game but I would never spit in their face.

If you lose a big game its a tough pill to swallow let alone have 5000 screaming nut cases pushing you out of the way to get to the floor. If you are one of these fans its great to rush the field and courts but just leave the other teams players out of it. You should be celebrating with grace and class not hounding the other players who played just as hard and maybe the better team.

I hope this type of thing doesn't happen again but I think that its only going to get worse. Which means that running on the fields of play is going to be a thing of the past. All its going to take is for a fan to do this and then a player to react.

Rushing the court has always been a huge debate but it looks like that its going to be a thing of the past. I seriously hope nothing happens to a fan or player but the NCAA might need to take action now before something serious does happen. If NBA players are bringing guns to the arena who knows what fans can bring in.

COUPLE ISSUES WITH TV DEAL!

Feels great to be back writing again... We need to get a few things straight around here. Whats is the deal with MWC television channel THE MTN?

Last night the UNLV game was not televised or replayed like they said because of the weather. Well weather is one thing but not having the students on campus for a production is another.

TCU cancelled school Wednesday, so there were no students around campus. What does that mean exactly? Well THE MTN this high profiled channel that the conference has its TV deal with, saves money by getting students to broadcast there games on the station. WHY? Every other school in the conference doesn't do this. Sounds like a cheap way to do things. TV deals in major college sports are the trend these days. If you don't have a major deal your in the minority and other schools are making twice as much for there programs. I think the MWC is much more high profile than playing games on THE MTN, VS, and CBSC. They have ranked football and basketball teams in the top 10 every year. They have produced a BCS teams four years in a row now. They are holding these kids back from exposure. Just to earn more money off them. Trust me I would pay these kids but thats another topic.

Its sucks to not have this conference on ESPN big Monday anymore. I don't care how late the games were. It doesn't affect the WAC or WCC. THE MWC needs to get out of the TV deal they have. No one likes to watch these games on those channels. There not in HD and the announcer are okay but the color guys are horrible. They cant pronounce the players names, they mix up the players and tell stories about the wrong ones. What is going on here. There has to be some good ex-coaches out there that they can get. Guys like Charlie Spoonhour, Rick Majerus, or even Marcus Banks. There has to be plenty of old players from this conference that can do color commentary better than anyone they have. Shoot I can do it. (refer to old 2004 state title game). Also another topic.

My point here is get a new deal or jump to another conference. How do you have teams like BYU, TCU, UTAH, and future teams Nevada, Bosie St, and Fresno St on this channel. Why are we not on national television. You cant have this anymore. If we were like WCC is now I say what are we complaining about but this is just ridiculous.

The MWC is a power conference now and they deserve respect. Players like James Ferdette, Louis Amundson, Ruben Douglas, Danny Granger, and Lenord from SDSU deserve the same breath as Duke, Georgetown, and Uconn players. They have the best TV deals. Makes it hard for these east coast writers to watch these games when the coverage and announcers are so bad. Also makes it hard for recruits who dont have these stations to check out schools on the west coast.

BACK IN ACTION AND SICK OF THE IGNORANCE!

I'm Back!

Finally have decided to get back to what I love the most and that is write about sports. I know its been some time but I'm back in action and read to throw out my crazy opinions on sports. This well be a weekly blog and I will update every Sunday from here on out. Well lets get to it.

This week is what I like to call JIMMER WEEK! Every time I turned on the TV this week all I heard about was Jimmer. First off to take a quote from Coming to America. His mama named him James, I'm gonna call him James. It was a helluva week for him, taking down the powerhouse SDSU at home dropping 42 on the Aztecs. He is amazing and so is his story. I think he is one of the best college basketball players I have every seen. Definitely up there with the likes of Larry Johnson, Jason Williams (duke), JJ Reddick, and Carmelo. These players would just take over the game and you knew your team wasn't going to lose. James is just the same way. He can take over the game and your team knows it can relax and play because you have him. Don't get me wrong I wish UNLV had a player like this. The kid is just amazing but what I want to talk about is why he is disliked by most team and fans in his conference. A lot is because of how good he is but I think most of it is who he plays for.

BYU! Its an all Mormon institution that has its own religious beliefs. BYU fans are probably the most hated fans in all of the west coast. Why you ask? Well its one thing ignorance. They think they are better than everyone else because of there beliefs, there code of conduct, and their school. They only know their beliefs and are not aware of anything else. One thing you have to keep in mind here when I'm writing this I have nothing against the religion. Believe what you want but don't look down on others because their beliefs are different. No one in the world is better than another because what they believe in.

BYU fans have complained for years about other teams fans. One example comes to mind at the MWC tournament. UNLV beat BYU in the championship game and the fans rushed the court. Just like fans do in every conference they rush the court after a big win. Its a basketball tradition. When you beat someone in your conference tournament and guaranteed a spot in the big dance you rush the floor and celebrate by dancing with the players. Its a symbol stating we are going dancing. Sure it happens during the year when an unranked team beats a ranked one. BYU doesn't follow these rules. They got the MWC to put up barriers to keep students and fans off the floor during the conference tournament. Parents and spouses of BYU complained enough that the conference listen to them and surrounded the arena with barriers to keep fans out. It didn't really work it just caused more problems. Like fans being arrested and chased by security for something that is a normal tradition. I believe one BYU players wife was involved in an altercation with a few fans because she tried to stop them from running on the floor. Once again sign of ignorance. She felt she could police the rules because she was better than the other fans.

What I witnessed on Wednesday night after #9 BYU beat #4 SDSU was something so shocking. BYU fans rushing the court after beating the Aztecs. I thought they said this was dangerous and that it causes altercation that can be avoided, if you weren't allowed to rush the floor. So why are they doing it? Because they are ignorant and think they can do what they want. They aren't educated enough to know that when another top 10 team in the Big East beats another top 10 team they don't rush the court. It was a great win for them and I wouldn't take that away from them but don't complain about other teams when your doing the same things. BYU has long been known for playing men against boys. There players are older and more mature because they get to go on missions and still have there eligibility when they return. When you have a 22 yr old sophomore vs. a 19 yr old sophomore the older player is not going to make as many mistakes. This gives them a little more advantage. But they see nothing wrong with that because they don't do anything wrong. But if a kid college kid from another school decides to have a beer at a game they think this is wrong. I mean a big part of college is having a couple of drinks before a game and enjoying yourself. They see this different.

Ill never forget a trip I took to BYU's Marriott Center. It was probably the worst experience of my life. I was with a few friends who all made the 4 hr drive up. Somehow we got tickets in the student section. Which they had us kicked out of. Some of my friends had signs and they were taken away and ripped up. One friend of mine was put in hand cuffs and escorted out of the arena no more than two minutes after entering the arena. He really didn't do anything but have a couple of words with another BYU fan who said something to him first. The looks and taunts you get when you enter that arena in support of the other team are the looks your parents gave you when they were disappointed in you for messing up. You know that look that your like wow I really screwed up. But the only thing you screwed up is not being one of them. I'm all for rivalries but this is a whole other level.

You can ask any MWC fan from any team who is the most hated team in the conference and I would bet 80% would say BYU. That is why James is hated so much in his conference. If he played for any other team in the nation he would be loved but in his own conference he is hated.

The kid is definitely a scorer no doubt about it. But something has to be said for the experts that have him going late first round in the NBA draft. NBADRAFT.NET before last weeks game had him the last pick of the first round. Maybe you cant guard him. Maybe he will be really great! I would love to see him as a shooting guard in the NBA. But right now he is all BYU has. They did go down yesterday to New Mexico only 72hrs after beating SDSU. Once again James had 30 something points but the rest of the team has to be there to help out for a win. The season is getting interesting but I think JIMMER MAINA will pass and BYU can take their "Harvard of the West" attitude out of the MWC over to a weaker WCC conference because they know without JAMES they will not be able to compete with the best teams of the MWC. This is the only way they will continue to win and keep that sacred home court advantage they have.
