Its was shaping up to look like the Rebels would be the Pac-10 killers the past few season with a win at ASU and Oregon St. The Beaver get the ball back on there 20 yard line. This is where it get disappointing. I'm sitting 50 yard line row one i can see everything. Shoot the picture will give you an idea.

Anyway Rebels get a huge sack on second down leaving the Beavers with 3rd down and 26 yards for a first down. They run the play once again the quarterback gets hammered by the Rebels linebacker, the ball goes into the air incomplete at the 30 yard line and the receiver was on the 50 yard line. About 3 second go by before a flag comes out. The referee called pass interference giving the ball to OSU with under a minute to go.
This is so dumb. First off there wasn't any way there could have been pass inference because they werent even near each other. The ball also was unreachable and the qb got hammered. So why would the ref do this to a team who fought back to win the game. Let the players play, to determine the outcome. Sure you can say they should have stopped them again but hey that call didn't need to be called. The Beavers went down and hit a field goal with seven seconds remaining.
For a team like UNLV to be losing 20-7 at half and come back with there starting qb on the bench was amazing. They deserved that game and it should have been theirs. Instead some dumb ref makes a bad call costing them the game possibly the season. It takes a lot to bounce back from that. Hopefully they will do it, but there is no guarantees.
That's whats on my Mind!

Those are tight seats! I think it happens in the college games way more than in the pros. Because of the rankings that come out each week, refs go into each game "knowing" who is supposed to win the game. If a play comes up where they think they "might" have saw something or are uncertain which way to call a play they are going to go with the team who is "supposed" to win. Even if it is somewhat subconcious its bull shit. Probably happens a lot more in basketball than football but in football its such a huge momentum and game changing shift. Right on brotha!
ReplyDeleteSorry for my absence fellas. Like Jacko, I took too much propofol. There's been a lot, A LOT, of activity over the past 30 days in the world of sports; beginning of NCAA football and the No Fun League, hirings (Hailey) firings (Gailey), athletes that haven't started their careers (Crabasstree) to ones that ended it (MJ, Stockton) and everything in between (as in read between the lines of Serena and Federer). So, just as myself, I'm sure yall have your opinions on these topics, but I'm adamant about a few of them. College football - eh - NFL - eh - but for a talented kid to pout and whine about not enough millions is unacceptable. I mean, C'mon man, seriously, how much will it cost you to sit out??!! Tweet to Crabapple; sit out, you won't get paid - period! Furthermore, you won't be a top 10 pick next year. Suck it up, earn your stripes and ball. Hell, the 49ers may not even need you after the beating they put on the Cardinals (just like pretty boy Floyd doesn't need his Maybach -REEEEPOOO!) And I'm pissed at you too, MJ. I know you're competitive, but dude, stop the hatred and animosity. You're 47 yrs old. Let it go. Like LL, you ain't the man anymore. Ride off in the sunset on your crotch rocket with your lil white girl holdin on like Patrick Swayze for 2 yrs. Take notes from the guy you used to beat up on - John Stockton. You don't have to drive a Caravan like him, but stop with the Bobby Knight grudges. Sorry about the Rebs Michael, but hoops is just around the corner :). I'll sub myself in next time if I sit on the bench as long as I did.
