It was a crazy weekend in football. Payton did what he needed to do to get by the JETS. But nothing makes me happier or sad than the loss for Farve. The Vikings put up a good fight but you cant turn the ball over that many times and expect to win.
The Viks were the better team by far. You could tell they were marching up and down the field very easy against the Saints. They just make to many mistakes. You cant throw that many interceptions and expect to win the game. Farve should blame himself for that last one. They had the game in the bag and were within the range of their kicker. They did not need to throw the ball on that last play. Brett tired to do what he does best to create a play out of nothing but this was a position that should have been a throw away and a field goal. Plays like that you just do too much. It was bitter sweet to see Brett Farve lost it for his team himself by a bad decision. It was sad to see him make it that far and not make the big game. It will be interesting to see if he finishes out the final year on that huge contract he got. He still has it. he can play and he has a young team around him one more year might do it for him.
They best teams usually come through in the end and both teams in the Superbowl were the best all year. Long. Maybe learning form Patriots a few years back taught these teams that winnings the big game is better than being undefeated. I think your going to see a lot of teams rest there players come week 13 and 14 from now on like the Colts and Saints did. The Saints got lucky yesterday but hey they are playing great ball right now and its like the Cardinals last year.
I think its going to be a lot of hype and everyone wants to see the Saints win but i think Payton does everything right gets the Colts to the Superbowl with another coach. These coaches are defense guys and he runs the offense show. Hes the best QB of my era and will be the best when its all said and done. He can figure teams out in the middle of the game there is something to be said about that. He will probably win four or five before he is done.
Colts by 1o
Rebels get screwed again in the rankings you win 2 road conference games and lose votes in the polls. Especially in the coaches poll, how the hell does that happen. I'm done talking about these ranking its never going to matter.
Rebels need to be 8-2 in the next ten games to be in the tourney as an at large. This is manageable because they can lose one at home to BYU or UNM and probably on the road at SDSU. We will probably win the first game in the tourney play Utah or UNM and its not going to matter. I say we are 7 seed. Hopefully Utah or SDSU wins the tourney sending four teams to the big dance. BYU, UNM, UNLV as solid locks. If SDSU can rebound and get better, they finish 4 or five win the tourney they will be the fourth. Utah maybe a little young still.
MID SEASON RESUME 16-4 over all, 4-2 conference
Key Losses: Kansas State #13 ,USC (on probation), BYU #10
Bad Losses: Utah (at home)
PREDICTIONS: 24-6 over all 12-4 in conference maybe ranked #23
I would like a 6 seed in the tourney and win that game putting us in the second round against a team we can beat at a 3 seed or maybe an upset for a 14 seed. We could win that game giving us a shot at a 2 seed and maybe an upset. Its all hypothetical from here we just want to be in the dance no higher than 8 or 9 seed. If were higher we are going to upset some teams.
That's whats On my Mind
SIMSZEE
Simszee, I know you have a big game tonight @ the rink, but c mon man. Your not Mike Golic, Mike Greenberg or Mike Ditka. Your Mike Sims. The idea of this blog is to form your OWN opinion. I luv ya buddy, but too cliche. I guess that's why I only comment ;). I'm sick and tired of hearing about #4. He's dramatic, both good and bad, but the last 4 (no pun intended) teams he's played for (ATL, Pack, Jets and Minny) have ended with an INT. Yep. The last throw for all these teams was a pick. I don't wanna take away from his toughness (cuz I think what he's done is remarkable; better than Cal Ripken's streak), but with toughness comes ignorance. Look at Kimbo, Bertuzzi, Simszee (when he tells people he'll compare W2's) and now Favre. Kobe's becoming guilty of it now and it's costing his TEAM. I know that's a hard concept for some of these stars to grasp, but as the ol' cliche goes, there's no I in team (you're hurt Kobe. Sit out 2 weeks). Hindsight's always 20/20 (especially for gamblers) and yes the Vikes coulda ran it up the middle and given themselves a chance w a FG. But it never shoulda came to that. Here's another stat : An NFL team that turns it over 2+ times in a game looses 94% of the time. Do I need to say more?! It's like Kukla - if you can't handle it, you ain't gonna make it! Now, stats don't always tell the story, which was the case last night. Simszee is right in that the Purple People Eaters beat the Ants in just about every statistical category (except TOs) and didn't come out on top. Same thing with the Rebs. They not very good statistically vs their opponents, don't have high major recruits and play past 10pm EST so no1 takes notice. I like it like that though. No pressure and should slide into the tourney like Ryan after Simszee. Only seeds you need to be worried about Simszee are the one's you are plantin in LL. Take it from me and Josh...be careful ;) p.s Sub yourself out tonight as you will need to be running to the bathroom to puke...and by some Icy Hot cuz you won't be scoring on or off the ice for awhile. If it helps Shaq, it'll help you!
